#4/13 of my Marvel Movie Challenge. I must be really grateful to Marvel because for some reason, they always release Marvel movies a week earlier here in Asia. Luckily, I was able to watch the third installment of Captain America, namely, Civil War, last April 29. Just a run-through of the story: The Avengers’ actions have already caught the attention of the government and decided that they should be watched. The government presents an “Accords” that if the Avengers sign this, they would be under the government’s control. Captain America/ Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is not willing as this takes away their freedom and thinks of “What if they needed to be in a place and the government does not allow them?”. On the other hand, Iron Man/ Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) agrees with the government. This forms the Avengers to divide into factions: Team Cap and Team Iron Man.

Hi guys! I know months have already passed since 2015 ended, but I still haven’t posted my last entry for my 2015 Disney Movie Challenge. The challenge basically involves watching 10 movies released by Disney last year and writing a review for each. I only watched the last on my list, The Good Dinosaur, yesterday. So here’s the review to conclude my challenge! (Better late than never right?)
Since I was able to watch the latest Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, I still have the hype about it so I attempted to do Star Wars Nail Art last month, particularly the iconic blue and red lightsabers. The results weren’t really perfect, but I decided to share with you how I did it because let’s just say I was a little resourceful.
9/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, there existed a handful of iconic characters in the movie industry, specifically, a Jedi, a Jedi-in-training, a ptincess, a smugler (also a scruffy nerf herder), a Wookie, and someone from the Dark Side. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Well it’s Star Wars, one of the best movie franchises that ever existed. To be honest, I’ve only been a fan last month, nonetheless, I have watched all 6 movies and as well as the most recent one, the Force Awakens. (Feel free to click “Continue Reading”, I will not give any spoilers haha)
Now that 2015 is coming to an end, I would like to take this time to reminisce and look back on the memorable moments that I have had for the year. Overall, I could proudly say that 2015 has been one of the most fruitful and fortunate years for me.
Mockingjay Part 2 is the epic conclusion to The Hunger Games Franchise. While the first two films focus on holding a hunger games and Mockingjay Part 1 revolving around the aftermath of The Third Quarter Quell, here we watch how Katniss leads the rebellion to overthrow the Capitol, led by President Snow. The last installment of the franchise amazing. Question is, real or not real?
7/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. Fantastic Four is an iconic superhero group that has been made known into the film industry since mid-2000’s. Because of the original movie’s success, Disney and Marvel teamed up and decided to remake the movie with a fresh cast, newly improved special effects, and a somewhat different presentation of the plot. The new Fantastic Four film was released in August 2015. The question is, is the new film as fantastic as the original?
6/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. You know those times when you experience a certain event in your life, and try to associate it with one feeling? Like all birthday parties are supposed to bring joy, death of a pet brings sadness, betrayal leads to anger, heights bring fears and vegetables lead you to disgust? Why is it necessary to associate something to one emotion? We all know that the complexity of life isn’t enough to suit us one emotion at a time. As humans, we are capable to comprehend all the feelings in the world, so why stick with one right? These thoughts came to my mind when I watched Inside Out a few months ago.
I think I have mentioned in my previous posts that I am one of the editors of our school paper. In line with this, I wrote a review in our paper for the movie Paper Towns so I wanted to share it with you guys (with some edits to make it more personal blog-ish hehe)
What is an identity? It is defined as the “distinct quality that makes up an individual”. As easy as it is to give its meaning, the difficult part is finding it. Many of us nowadays struggle to find our true selves. This is the main plot of the mystery-comedy-drama film “Paper Towns” which was released in cinemas last July . Based on the novel with the same title from the bestselling author John Green, Paper Towns focuses on the life of Quentin Jacobsen (Natt Wolff) and his escapade in finding his neighbor and childhood love interest Margo Roth Spiegelman (Cara Delevingne), who went into hiding. Along his quest, Quentin together with his friends Ben, Radar and Lacey, discover more about themselves and the “real” Margo as they find her in a “paper town” called Algoe, New York.
5/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. 3/10 of my Marvel Movie Challenge. Okay, this post was supposed to be made like 3 months ago. But I have been so busy, as I said in my previous post. However, I am committed to my movie challenge, and for the very few who haven’t watched this movie yet, then hopefully this review would help.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” A common saying but one that everyone should live by. Most of us tend to look at people at the outside, and neglect the person’s characteristics that aren’t visible to the eye. Here’s a story about a special someone who could shrink in size, yet despite being small, can manage to be a hero. This movie is Ant-Man, which premiered in theaters last July.
Everybody loves superheroes. And recently, Marvel Studios is rising to the top with its different superhero movies such as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Avengers and many more. Although the last film of Phase 2 of The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is already shown in theaters (Ant-Man), no need to worry because MCU has its plans until Phase 3, which extends until 2019!
Time flies so fast and I didn’t even realize it was already the 3rd week of July! To celebrate, I decided to make reviews of two movies I watched last month: San Andreas and Jurassic World. With the former tackling major earthquakes that could happen in real life, and the latter showing the possibility of what’s to come when an artificially-created dinosaur gets on the loose on a theme park full of people, well let’s just say my June movie feels were like a roller coaster. 4/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. Everything begins with a dream. A simple desire. A flicker of hope. A dream can start from anything, even from nothing. As long as you believe in it and work hard to achieve it, a dream can become a reality, no matter how impossible it seems to be. This is what the newly released film “Tomorrowland” has taught me. I watched the movie with my parents and cousins last weekend and although the story line was a bit confusing in my opinion and as well as having a slow pace in story telling, the film had its strong points which includes the simple but powerful message it wants to impart to its viewers. 3/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. 2/10 of my Marvel Movie Challenge. Every Marvel fan waited for 3 years to be able to watch the sequel of Avengers which was released in 2012. Today is finally the day we’ve been waiting for! May 1st marks the premiere date of the second installment of Avengers with the subtitle, Age of Ultron (AoU). However, other parts of the globe were very lucky to have the movie premiered at an earlier date, which was why I was able to watch it with my family last weekend. I know many fans still haven’t watched the film so I wouldn’t give out any spoilers. I would just simply state the concepts and gist of what happened in the film, and my critique of it.
2/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. To check out the first one, click here. Everybody already knows the Cinderella story. A young maiden ends up being a servant to her stepmother and stepsisters. She was forbidden to attend the ball. With the help of her fairy godmother her life turned into a fantasy until midnight. She met the Prince and left her famous glass slipper as she raced against time. The Prince found out that she owned the slipper and they both lived happily ever after. With this knowledge before hand, what made this movie a big hit?
I promised to write a review of this movie the day after my previous post, and of course I failed to comply once again. Well better late than never right? Here’s my short review of “Into the Woods” (1/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge).
Are you a fan of fairytales? Well even if you feel old for them, deep inside your love for them will never fade. All of us have a favorite story, such as Cinderella or Red Riding Hood. So what if there was a musical movie that combined all of your favorite fairytales together? That would be called “Into the Woods”.
What if you already had a happy life? A perfect family, a loving boyfriend and a bright future ahead of you? Then all of a sudden these things are worthless because of a fatal accident. But what if you were given a choice? What if you were given a chance to live? To survive and do all the things you need to do? Continue reading “To Stay or not to Stay?”→
1/10 of my Marvel Movie Challenge. If the “Avengers” are earth’s mightiest heroes, outer space has its own. They are the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Marvel-produced film was released last July. To be honest, when I watched the trailer for the first time, I was like “Who are these creatures? Are they some kind of mediocre Avengers wannabees? And why are they using 80’s songs?” But when I found out that the movie was a huge hit, curiosity (and Chris Pratt) made me watch the film.
City of Heavenly Fire is the epic conclusion to Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments Series. In this book, Clary and her friends try to stop her evil brother Sebastian from letting Shadowhunters all around the world drink from the Infernal Cup, another version of the Mortal Cup but instead of turning mundanes to Nephilim, the Infernal Cup turns Shadowhunters into the “Endarkened”. Lots of challenges and obstacles also come their way as they fight to rescue their loved ones, mend broken relationships, try to remove the heavenly fire from Jace, save and restore peace in the Shadow World and know their true identities. The book is also a cross-over of Clare’s other series as we meet characters from The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifices.
The Fault In Our Stars is a romance/drama movie that hit theaters recently. It’s based on a novel of the same name written by John Green. The story is about Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters, 2 cancer patients who fell in love when they met in support group. Faced with love, fear and obstacles, TFIOS is one of the grestest romance novels for teens and it is a great choice for a film adaptation.
Day 2 here at Macau and it was so tiring but fun! Our day started off by availing of the “Shrekfast”. (Breakfast with the DreamWorks Gang- Shrek, Fiona, Puss in boots, Characters from Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Po, Tigress, Mr. Peabody and Sherman). I was so eager to have my pic with all of them (And lucky for me I did) and I never knew eating breakfast can be so intense and stressful. Imagine going to get food to a buffet, then while you’re getting food the character goes to your table, so you run off to go catch them! The experience was definitely worth it tho! And the food was delicious.
For the 2nd time the new and improved Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) hits theaters when The Amazing Spiderman 2 (TASM 2) had its premiere here in Manila last April 30. Luckily I was chosen by Sky Cable, our local cable network, to join the premiere block screening they were sponsoring at the Newport Arts Cinema at Resorts World Manila.
Ransom Riggs, Tahereh Mafi and Veronica Rossi are three of the New York Times Best Selling Authors and they had the opportunity to meet their crazed Filipino fans in Manila last April 26 and in Cebu the next day for a book signing event hosted by National Bookstore. Me being a fan of these 3 authors went to the April 26 book signing and it is an experience I’ll never forget.
Heaven. Has the thought of this word ever cross your mind? At least once? I think of heaven from time to time and imagine what it would look like. Sometimes I picture rainbows and angels and seeing Peter and the famous golden keys. But first of all, is there such thing as heaven? Are all of these things about heaven and hell true? Where do we go after we die? I know it may seem deep, especially for me since I’m only 14, but we have to face reality. Nothing lasts forever, including our own lives, so it’s human nature to be curious about the afterlife.
