Exploring Disney World’s EPCOT

During our US trip, we went to 3 out of the 4 Disney World Theme Parks (Click here to read about Magic Kingdom and here for Disney Hollywood Studios), and the last one we went to was EPCOT. EPCOT stands for the ‘Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow’, which means it showcases futuristic landscapes as well as modern and sci-fi attractions. The theme park has two sections: Future World and World Showcase. Future World has the different rides while the World Showcase displays highlights of different countries. (To know more you can watch the video that I made above!!)

Disney Hollywood Studios

The second theme park that we visited in Disney World was Disney Hollywood Studios! The previous day, we went to Magic Kingdom (You can read Parts 1 and 2 of my experience too!), and despite the magical yet exhausting day that we had there, it didn’t stop us from going to another theme park. Disney Hollywood Studios has rides that are similar to the Hollywood Experience, and they also had a lot of new Star Wars attractions that I was hyped about.

Magical Day at Magic Kingdom

Here is the continuation of our visit to Magic Kingdom! Click here to read about the first part. Magic Kingdom is the biggest theme park in Disney World Orlando, so we spent the entire day there and we actually made it until the closing time which was at 12 am! Here you are gonna read about my experience in the different rides, as well as the Disney Electrical Parade and the famous fireworks that happen daily at the park.

From the West to the East

Now that the Vegas part of our trip is done, our next destination was Orlando! I was really looking forward to this place since all the great theme parks such as Disneyworld and Universal Studios are here, and ever since I found out about the tragic incidents that happened in Orlando recently, I felt really disappointed about what happened. It really saddens me that innocent lives would be taken just because they chose to be who they are. We should treat everyone with the same love and respect regardless of gender, race and beliefs. As Lin-Manuel Miranda said in his Tony Awards acceptance speech, “Love is love. It cannot be taken away or swept aside.” However, I still wanted to hold on to that part of Orlando that is bright and happy so I decided to continue with this post.

Civil War Review

#4/13 of my Marvel Movie ChallengeI must be really grateful to Marvel because for some reason, they always release Marvel movies a week earlier here in Asia. Luckily, I was able to watch the third installment of Captain America, namely, Civil War, last April 29. Just a run-through of the story: The Avengers’ actions have already caught the attention of the government and decided that they should be watched. The government presents an “Accords” that if the Avengers sign this, they would be under the government’s control. Captain America/ Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is not willing as this takes away their freedom and thinks of “What if they needed to be in a place and the government does not allow them?”. On the other hand, Iron Man/ Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) agrees with the government. This forms the Avengers to divide into factions: Team Cap and Team Iron Man.

The Good Dinosaur: A Good Movie Indeed

Hi guys! I know months have already passed since 2015 ended, but I still haven’t posted my last entry for my 2015 Disney Movie Challenge. The challenge basically involves watching 10 movies released by Disney last year and writing a review for each. I only watched the last on my list, The Good Dinosaur, yesterday. So here’s the review to conclude my challenge! (Better late than never right?)

The Force Has Woken

9/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, there existed a handful of iconic characters in the movie industry, specifically, a Jedi, a Jedi-in-training, a ptincess, a smugler (also a scruffy nerf herder), a Wookie, and someone from the Dark Side. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Well it’s Star Wars, one of the best movie franchises that ever existed. To be honest, I’ve only been a fan last month, nonetheless, I have watched all 6 movies and as well as the most recent one, the Force Awakens. (Feel free to click “Continue Reading”, I will not give any spoilers haha)

How Fantastic is the New Fantastic Four

2005 Fantastic Four vs 2015 Version

7/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. Fantastic Four is an iconic superhero group that has been made known into the film industry since mid-2000’s. Because of the original movie’s success, Disney and Marvel teamed up and decided to remake the movie with a fresh cast, newly improved special effects, and a somewhat different presentation of the plot. The new Fantastic Four film was released in August 2015. The question is, is the new film as fantastic as the original?

Why One Feeling isn’t Enough

6/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. You know those times when you experience a certain event in  your life, and try to associate it with one feeling? Like all birthday parties are supposed to bring joy, death of a pet brings sadness, betrayal leads to anger, heights bring fears and vegetables lead you to disgust? Why is it necessary to associate something to one emotion? We all know that the complexity of life isn’t enough to suit us one emotion at a time. As humans, we are capable to comprehend all the feelings in the world, so why stick with one right? These thoughts came to my mind when I watched Inside Out a few months ago.

Ant-Man Review: Small but not Terrible

5/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. 3/10 of my Marvel Movie Challenge. Okay, this post was supposed to be made like 3 months ago. But I have been so busy, as I said in my previous post. However, I am committed to my movie challenge, and for the very few who haven’t watched this movie yet, then hopefully this review would help.

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” A common saying but one that everyone should live by. Most of us tend to look at people at the outside, and neglect the person’s characteristics that aren’t visible to the eye. Here’s a story about a special someone who could shrink in size, yet despite being small, can manage to be a hero. This movie is Ant-Man, which premiered in theaters last July.

Dreamer

Frank Walker (left) and his younger self (right)
4/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. Everything begins with a dream. A simple desire. A flicker of hope. A dream can start from anything, even from nothing. As long as you believe in it and work hard to achieve it, a dream can become a reality, no matter how impossible it seems to be. This is what the newly released film “Tomorrowland” has taught me. I watched the movie with my parents and cousins last weekend and although the story line was a bit confusing in my opinion and as well as having a slow pace in story telling, the film had its strong points which includes the simple but powerful message it wants to impart to its viewers.

Age of Ultron Review

Avengers

3/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. 2/10 of my Marvel Movie Challenge. Every Marvel fan waited for 3 years to be able to watch the sequel of Avengers which was released in 2012. Today is finally the day we’ve been waiting for! May 1st marks the premiere date of the second installment of Avengers with the subtitle, Age of Ultron (AoU). However, other parts of the globe were very lucky to have the movie premiered at an earlier date, which was why I was able to watch it with my family last weekend. I know many fans still haven’t watched the film so I wouldn’t give out any spoilers. I would just simply state the concepts and gist of what happened in the film, and my critique of it.

Courage and Bravery

2/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge. To check out the first one, click here. Everybody already knows the Cinderella story. A young maiden ends up being a servant to her stepmother and stepsisters. She was forbidden to attend the ball. With the help of her fairy godmother her life turned into a fantasy until midnight. She met the Prince and left her famous glass slipper as she raced against time. The Prince found out that she owned the slipper and they both lived happily ever after. With this knowledge before hand, what made this movie a big hit?

No One Is Alone

I promised to write a review of this movie the day after my previous post, and of course I failed to comply once again. Well better late than never right? Here’s my short review of “Into the Woods” (1/10 of my Disney Movie Challenge).

Are you a fan of fairytales? Well even if you feel old for them, deep inside your love for them will never fade. All of us have a favorite story, such as Cinderella or Red Riding Hood. So what if there was a musical movie that combined all of your favorite fairytales together? That would be called “Into the Woods”.

2015 Disney Movie Challenge

Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, Disney never gets old. That is why 2015 is considered awesome for us Disney Geeks since around ten Disney movies will be out in the cinemas. I was lucky to watch “Into the Woods” tonight since it only premiered in my country this week, and the movie inspired me to set up a challenge for myself, and feel free to join me if you want.

Hong Kong Diaries (5-15-14)

image

Hi guys! So apparently August is the most hectic month in school. We had tons of projects and it’s actually our exams this week, but I still decided to update my blog before I continue studying. I know it’s been 3 months already and I haven’t finished my Vacation Diaries (Macau/HK), but better late than never right? So here’s our 2nd day in Hong Kong. And as you can pretty much guess, we went to the happiest place on earth: Disneyland.
