Exploring Disney World’s EPCOT

During our US trip, we went to 3 out of the 4 Disney World Theme Parks (Click here to read about Magic Kingdom and here for Disney Hollywood Studios), and the last one we went to was EPCOT. EPCOT stands for the ‘Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow’, which means it showcases futuristic landscapes as well as modern and sci-fi attractions. The theme park has two sections: Future World and World Showcase. Future World has the different rides while the World Showcase displays highlights of different countries. (To know more you can watch the video that I made above!!)

20160515_131032We arrived at the park around 10 am, and we tried the different attractions. The first one we did was Mission Space, which was a simulation of us being astronauts out on a mission. Afterwards, we decided to go to the World Showcase and look for a place to eat.

It was a really really looong walk to get to each ‘country’. Since the layout of the park had a huge lake in the middle, we had to go around the entire lake to check each attraction out. Around 1 pm, it was scorching hot, and most of the restaurants were closed. I was starting to feel unwell, but the excitement of seeing the showcase (and eating) kept me going. After 20 more minutes of walking (We already walked half the park by this time), we came across the Japan display and their restaurant was open and airconditioned!! Plus, the food was really good and the staff were very friendly.

After eating and resting, we finished walking around the World Showcase. We passed by other displays such as England, France, Norway, China, and many others. We were finally back at the front of the park where the rides are, and we decided to try Test Track. In this ride, we were on a car (We even had the option of designing a car before the actual ride!), and it was tested on different conditions, meaning we experienced high-speed and bumpy movements along the way. It was like a really fast roller coaster and the best part was when the car was released to the outdoor track and we were moving really really really fast.

Future World 🚀

For our last ride, we rode Spaceship Earth, a slow ride that featured the history of the Earth. It was really nice and relaxing, after a long day of walking. At the end of the day, I really enjoyed our stay at EPCOT and I was really grateful that I was able to go to Disney World. 💜

  1. Despite that you have to walk far, sounds like you guys had a great day. Your post is a great reference for future trip.

  2. This is awesome! I don’t think I’ve ever gone to see EPCOT in Disney World and it would be nice to take the entire family here. I’m sure it was worth walking to each of the sights and it’s a memorable experience too.

  3. I did not know that Disney has also a futuristic type of amusement park. It looks very interesting, fun and with lots of things to learn. I would love to visit.

  4. After reading this and seeing your pics i feel I really need to visit Epcot center again! It’s been ags from the last time. I remember I was so keen getting inside that ‘golf ball’ 😀

  5. Yes its a brilliant theme park and I found more exciting than the other ones. EPCOT was my sons favourite park and he had to be dragged away. Thanks for the reminder of happy memories.
